Florencia House
Rehabilitation and unification of two rustic single-family dwellings
Formentera
PROJECT
Comprehensive renovation of two houses in Formentera, radically different in nature, where the main challenge lies in their coexistence and dialogue.
The first corresponds to a traditional farmhouse, of great antiquity and ethnographic value, linked to the first forms of inhabiting the island. The second is a singular piece of rationalist architecture, a modern exercise by an unknown author that introduces a completely different logic.
Both buildings have suffered the passage of time, and in the case of the farmhouse, aggressive interventions that have altered their authenticity. The project is based on a rigorous restitution, repairing these grievances and recovering the original values of each one.
The proposal does not seek to homogenize, but to weave a sensitive continuity between both architectures. Through the use of local and noble materials – stone, lime mortar, ceramics and clay – a common language is constructed that allows them to dialogue without losing their identity.
The project is completed with the design of built-in furniture and a custom lighting collection, developed in collaboration with local artisans, reinforcing the material and cultural character of the ensemble.
