New-build single-family house with swimming pool in Valldemossa, in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana. The project is conceived with the utmost rigour in its siting, responding to the landscape and regulatory value of a particularly protected setting.
The volumetric composition, the siting and the material palette respond to traditional Mallorcan architecture, reinterpreted through contemporary criteria. Natural integration into the topography is prioritised, minimising visual impact and adapting the building to the existing terrain.
The house is organised around a courtyard, inspired by the traditional “clastra” of Mallorcan possessions, which is accessed through a “portal forà” characteristic of vernacular architecture. A main two-storey volume predominates, covered by a pitched tiled roof with two slopes. The surrounding volumes are lower in height and are developed on a single storey. Stone, pitched roofs and outdoor spaces shape a composition that is coherent with the landscape. The result is an architecture that, although newly built, is perceived as an inherent part of the place, through respect and precision in every decision.
