Nursery school in the urban centre of Capdepera. Faced with the challenge of integrating a large-scale volume into a setting made up of small buildings with a heterogeneous character, the project was conceived as a fragmented ensemble that adapts the scale of the building to the existing urban fabric, reducing its impact and establishing a natural dialogue with its surroundings.
The volumetric fragmentation is not only an urban response, but also generates a sequence of intermediate spaces, courtyards and routes that enrich the children’s experience. These spaces act as extensions of the classroom, encouraging free play, interaction and intuitive learning.
The project seeks a close and domestic architecture, where scale, light and materials help create a welcoming and safe environment. The relationship between interior and exterior is understood as a key element, allowing educational activities to take place in direct contact with the surroundings.
Beyond its function, the building is conceived as a place that stimulates creativity and curiosity, offering a diversity of spaces that invite children to explore, discover and naturally make the environment their own.
