Molí Can Pel de Mel

Molí Can Pel de Mel

Concurso público - Restauración del Molí Can Pel de Mel

Sa Pobla, Mallorca

Completed in 2013

The project addresses the restoration and rehabilitation of a traditional Mallorcan windmill, understanding the building as a key element of the island’s cultural landscape

The intervention is based on respect for the original geometry, the masonry walls and the historic construction systems. The existing structural elements are recovered and enhanced, as are the remains of the machinery linked to the milling process, integrating them as an active part of the building’s narrative.

The works required to adapt it to new uses are resolved through contemporary technical solutions, clearly differentiated from the original fabric and conceived according to a principle of minimal intervention. The aim is to preserve the character of the windmill while keeping its evolution over time clearly legible.

The result is a sober and precise architecture that preserves the material and functional memory of the windmill and grants it a new life, respecting its identity and its relationship with the territory.
